A website that showcases the empowerment of women through the art of Samba

Dance Migration is Canada’s leading Brazilian Dance and Samba Company. Dance Migration has been cultivating joy through dance for over 15 years

For this project we worked closely with Dance Migration to revamp their old website to represent the new look and evolution of the company. We add three goals. 1) We wanted to highlight the education aspect of not only the company’s culture, but to also educate visitor’s on the Brazilian Samba culture. 2) We wanted to showcase the company’s work and offering’s. 3) We wanted the workshops and classes easier to find on the site.

As community is an essential part of Dance Migration, it was important to make the website feel inviting for anyone who lands on it as well as, easy to navigate. We did this by using light colours, and video’s and images that gave a sense of empowerment and community, to bring life to the website. We choose to cut down the number of site pages to allow for easier navigation.

During the pandemic Dance Migration’s online audience expanded internationally through online classes and workshops. We wanted to continue to nurture this expansion and created an online hub to host online courses and tutorials, where students have the option to train with Dance Migration, anywhere at anytime. This was an important element of the site, to not only offer students more options but for Dance Migration as a business to expand their offerings beyond just in person experiences 🤩🥂.
